This popped up in Apple Arcade as a new game, although I think the original has been around for a while and I may have even tried it before at some point. But this was a + version (whatever that means), so worth having another look at. It’s one of those simple games that is useful to have on the iPhone to dip in and out of when you have a few minutes, rather than something that’s going to keep you entertained for hours on end.

It’s in the Game

The gameplay is really simple, a sort of hybrid of a crossword and a wordsearch. You’re presented with a crossword layout and a handful of letters that you must use in various order to complete the puzzle. It starts out really easy and gradually gets harder and harder (the percentage of players who have completed the level at the top is a nice touch, gradually getting lower and lower as you progress through the game.)

There’s a daily puzzle to dip into, and daily rewards that increase as you build up a streak of checking in, but ultimately the reward is just playing the puzzle. It’s much more addictive than I thought it was going to be, but so simple as there not to be a lot left to say about it.

Thoughts

A good game, simple and quick to pick up and get into, and rewarding in its gradually increasing difficulty. There are plenty of levels to work through and if you are, as I suggested, dipping in and out while you’re boiling the kettle or waiting for someone, then it’ll keep you going for a while.
