Thoughts
I've seen this before, as well as about half an hour of the sequel. I got really annoyed at part 2, and that probably put me in a bad frame of mind rewatching this one. But it was Valentine's weekend, and this seemed to be the right kind of film to be watching.
I really think the books are a lot better. I don't get Colin Firth in this at all. To my mind, he comes across as creepy, unhelpful, and very unlikeable. He has his issues, fine, but at what point is he actually nice to Bridget so that she might end up liking him? I don't get it.
There are some funny moments, the blue soup always gets a laugh, but as rom-coms go, there have been a lot better since. And probably before.
