Frank W. Abagnale Jr. is a 16-year-old high school student who finds himself emotionally cut adrift when his mother, Paula, leaves his father. One day at school, Frank Jr. attempts to pass himself off as a substitute teacher, and easily makes the subterfuge work. His small-scale success gives Frank some ideas, and he soon discovers bigger and more profitable ways of hoaxing others, passing himself off as an airline pilot, a doctor, and an attorney. Frank's increasingly audacious work soon attracts the attention of Carl Hanratty, an FBI agent who is determined to put Frank behind bars.

Thoughts
The trouble with this film is that Mr C was adamant that I've seen it before and I was sure that I hadn't and so pretty much all the way through we were arguing and debating about who was right.
When I could concentrate long enough to watch the film, I really liked it. The audacity of Frank and how ridiculously easy it was for him to get away with his tricks - it's that age old thing of just having the confidence so that everyone else believes you too.
Tom Hanks was great as always, and somehow you manage to be rooting for both sides at the same time - the screwed up kid who is breaking the law but isn't exactly a criminal, and the tough but fair detective chasing him.
I'm still confident that I hadn't seen it before, but I'm glad I have now!
