44:30A lot of this signing is like charades. It's amazing.
48:41Joni Mitchell, another film flashback. Sobs!
54:58The teacher also has a gorgeous house and a grand piano. So I'm in love.
58:31She didn't even tell her about the interview though... that's hardly fair.
1:09:20No thanks, your friendship is not worth the humungous jump.
1:13:31No one tells anybody anything in this family.
1:18:32"Don't worry, you're a bad mom for so many other reasons."

Thoughts

Incredible film. Great story, great acting, great singing. Coming-of-age tale with plenty of layers to unpick: family drama, surviving at school, following your dreams, working with a great teacher, falling in love. And on top of that dealing with being the only hearing person in your family.

There were tears at several points, particularly at the end, where it ended on such a hopeful note. Lovely.
