Robert Downey Jr. plays Peter Highman, an expectant first-time father whose wife's due date is only days away. As he hurries to catch a flight home to Los Angeles from Atlanta to be at her side for the birth, his best intentions go completely awry when a chance encounter with aspiring actor and disaster-magnet Ethan Tremblay leads to the two of them being tossed off the plane and placed on a no-fly list...while Peter's luggage, wallet and ID take off without him. With no alternatives in sight, Peter is forced to hitch a ride with Ethan and his canine traveling companion on what turns out to be a cross-country road trip that will destroy several cars, numerous friendships and Peter's last nerve.

Thoughts
This was on our to-watch list a long time ago but we just never got round to it, it dropped off our radar and went missing. In an effort to move on from the disastrousR.I.P.D. we uncovered it and moved it back to the top of the list.
And I'm glad we did. I don't know if I had one glass too many, or if the characters just spoke to me, or if it was just because they weren't undead cops, but I was so invested in this film. For the first half hour, it was your standard setup, getting to know the characters, quite a few laughs, and wondering how exactly it's all going to pan out.
After that, when it went all Planes, Trains and Automobiles, I was hooked. It's not original and it's not groundbreaking but it was fun, and I loved the pair of them.
