He returns home to discover his wife has left him, changed the locks on their suburban home and dumped all his possessions out on the front yard. Faced with his life imploding, Nick puts it all on the line, or more accurately, on the lawn.

2:51Swiss army knives baffle me. Who actually needs that many gidgets?
4:42Uh oh, another film based on a short story. Will they run out of story half way through?
7:27It's completely unfair to kick someone out with no warning. Doesn't she care where he sleeps or anything?
9:58I was just about to say, how is he going to shower, but I think that problem is solved.
14:28Is this one of those films where bad things just keep piling on top of him?

53:00Is he a vampire? He doesn't seem able to set foot inside any houses.
1:03:49He might have hit a nerve there.
1:07:54The kid is good at what he does.
1:09:22He seems to be underpricing a lot of stuff... and playing cards.

1:17:48Ohhhh, boo.
1:21:15She wants to keep it amicable? After forcing him to become a tramp!?

Thoughts

Hadn't heard of this one before but it appeared somewhere on the iTunes film homepage and we watched the trailer. We were a little apprehensive, it looked like the kind of film that is moody and introspective and you'll either love it or hate it.

In the end, I quite liked it. Ferrell was very good, combining the nice personality that will keep you sympathising with the troubled thoughts of an alcoholic. My main problem with the film just stems from the very premise of being locked out of your house - particularly when she wasn't even in there. I just can't get my head round it. Throwing someone out is one thing. Locking them out of their own life for five days with no word is something completely different. Still, the kid was really cute and I liked the story.
