2:14Well that's planes ruined for me yet again.
4:27Love the thoroughness of the investigation. Aviation and space industries are brilliant at that.
5:42"Engineers aren't pilots. They're wrong. And they weren't there."
9:26Oof, the media are so intrusive.
13:28All those people around at 1am in the morning, it really is the city that never sleeps.
15:40"Never forget, no matter what's happening, fly the aeroplane."
21:51Not sure what they expect to say to that. Computer says one thing, they say something else. Stand off.
29:13"I'll fly on the wing," he jokes. Careful what you wish for.
31:22Seat cushion as a flotation device?
33:42Oh my god, the birds.
36:30Air Traffic Control are just so amazing.
40:00Run, Forrest, run!
43:59Goose and a splash of water. So inappropriate.
52:20Incredz how close the ferry is, that is an effective team.
56:13Was keeping a lid on the emosh, but for some reason him passing his hat to the freezing cold guy has torn it.
1:04:32"What, do you think we're ninjas?"
1:08:58So many people in the hearing!
1:17:11There's a significant difference between Sully and co-pilot. Co-pilot is smugly watching, Sully just interested in the results.
1:19:55I sort of can't believe the QRH, it's so huge, how can it be quick?
1:24:31Listening to the flight deck recording must be SO hard.
1:27:54Scuba cops!

Thoughts

It's crazy how emotionally charged this film is, considering that it's a true story and we all know how it's going to end. I didn't enjoy the beginning, where it was all a little Hollywood, and there were proper plane crashes that freaked me out and never actually happened. Also the drama with the family on either side of the wing, moving but slightly out of place, I felt.

Meanwhile, the bits I really did enjoy where the more procedural aspects - what happened during the flight, what happened afterwards, the process of investigating (as awful as that was), and the way it all worked through to a satisfying and heroic ending.

Great work by Tom Hanks, as always, specifically managing to walk the tricky line of being confident you've done the right thing with just a few seeds of doubt tripping you up along the way.
