Thoughts

I didn't expect much from this film. The trailer looked interesting, but I thought it was kinda arty and probably without a gripping story. I wasn't sure it was going to by my kind of film at all.

Boy, I was wrong. From the start, it was amusing and heart-breaking at the same time, beautiful, vivid and filled with thought-provoking scenes. Every single shot appeared to be carefully crafted - that's what made it look arty from an outside view - but it wasn't done just for the sake of it. It all worked, and had a fab soundtrack on top.

The story, too, was great. A little far-fetched in places, probably could have done without the shark, but otherwise brilliant. Ultimately, it wasn't about the big Icelandic views, as gorgeous as they were, but about the little things that turned Mitty's life around. The piano, the wallet, the dating website.
