1:03Even if your rabbit has come from the science lab, would you still leave him in charge of the baby? Cartoons are so illogical.
3:49The trouble with having the cartoon in real life is that all those physics-bending trips around the room don’t really work.
7:53"Kinda jumpy, aren’t you? It’s just Dumbo."
9:58I love the idea of hopping on the back of a tram. I wish you could still do that. Maybe you can. I don’t know where the nearest tram is.
13:05If you’re going to pick on people, you should probably be able to tell when they’re about to explode and stuff an egg in your mouth.
17:07The concept of black and white characters being out of work because of colour TV blows my mind.
22:23That actually is pictures of patty cake.
25:42Although I get that they need the sentimental bit now, it seems odd that his brother would go on holiday with him and his girlfriend.
28:15“Just like a toon to drop a safe on a guy’s head.”
29:42Scary looking Doc Brown.
32:27What did the shoe ever do?
35:35I always think I would never get on in a room where you had to put the bed away every night. I need my bed to fall upon.
38:57It must be freakishly hard to act as if you’re handcuffed to something that isn’t really there.
40:33Bullschtick is an excellent alternative swear word.
43:35“If you don’t have a sense of humour, you’re better off dead.”
58:27Roger is so sweet. The way he reacts to hearing about Valient’s brother. “A toon? No!”
1:02:38The music in this is very like Back to the Future in places.
1:07:01In fact it’s very reminiscent of it, driving through a tunnel and everything.
1:07:18Toon Town is so flippin’ bright!
1:13:01She refers to her husband as “that guy.” Intriguing.
1:17:31“Restaurants that serve rapidly-prepared food.”
1:19:59You could almost see the light bulb going off above his head.
1:23:01I love: “This is it!! This isn’t it!?”
1:27:42It’s fitting that his own toon-removing dip was the end of him as well.
1:32:27Do rabbits like carrot cake?

Thoughts

Mmm, I love this film. I've seen it many times - mostly when I was younger. I haven't seen it for a long time, but the BBC put it up on the iPlayer and so I instantly knew that it was going to be my next Film Watch.

I was surprised at how well the film holds up, considering it is over 20 years old. Of course, animation ages differently to live action, and that probably helps. As an adult, I was slightly disappointed with how many similarities I could see between this and Back to the Future, but equally, that probably helps endear it to me more. It's a great film and I love it. Watching it as an adult hasn't ruined it for me, which is not always the case.
