In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago return to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about—and get inspired by—the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.

0:46This is a terrible song. Soundtrack situation gone rapidly downhill.
3:50Woah, Kev has a big ol' beard.
6:16My first thought is what happened to Heather, my second thought is that we're better off!
10:05I wonder what mother they've picked out this time.
12:11They've left his room exactly the same!!
13:37They killed the mother off!
17:07It's fun to see Stifler and his mum talk, they don't really do much of that!
20:58"Hopes to have the sex life of Ricky Martin."
25:22Aww, a one time at band camp story.
25:43Dammmmit.
27:18The jetski is an intriguing getaway vehicle.
35:35So, Facebook totally ruins the whole concept of reunions.
40:53Spice Girls = classic rock.
47:39Oz did a dance show??
55:28Everything that happened between them summed up in just a couple of sentences. It's nice that we get backstory though.
58:07Watching a film with Mr C involves many questions like: "What Mac is that??"
1:04:04I don't want to keep picking on Heather, but the blonde hair is odd.
1:04:33"Your dad is so much cooler than you."
1:16:44Hehe, the fuzz.
1:22:22This having children business seems like nothing but trouble!
1:30:28"It was a big story, you can Google it." Best chatup line ever!
1:32:22Jessica!
1:36:39Sherman! Film reunion is fun.
1:42:12Their FIRST reunion? How many are they going to have?

Thoughts

Finally, we made it to the film we started this American Pie adventure for! After three films with these characters, we were more than ready to see them off in style. The trailer sold it to us, but I was hoping for slightly less Stifler in this one, and again, seeing how the characters have grown and changed.

Well, this was worth waiting for. I really enjoyed it. There was slightly less gross stuff, but enough embarrassing situations to keep up the tradition. The sentimental stuff was a bit more obvious, but by this point, we were almost caring about the characters so it was good. I think the work we put in watching the previous episodes was worth it, because it felt like everything was coming together to this last reunion and last party. (There is talk of an American Pie 5, but they really should just leave it at this.) It was quite surprising to us to realise that Oz and Heather hadn't been in the wedding one - we hadn't noticed and hadn't missed them! Oops.

Happy endings all round - not the type that Jim's Dad mentioned though.
