Though she longs to become a graceful champion figure skater, gawky Casey Carlyle has always been just a brainy high school misfit. And with a strong-willed mother pushing her toward a top university, it seems as if she'll never get the chance to be like the elite skating prodigies she sees at the rink. But when Casey uses her head and follows her heart, she'll find herself transformed beyond her wildest dreams!

1:34Feels like Dawson's Creek on ice so far.
3:03Toast on a bunson burner is fun!

17:51First zamboni sighting!
23:46I can relate to that, thinking of 100 things to say each time you leave, to the point you're bugging the person.
28:35I don't understand how she has such a big part in the recital when she only decided to do it this morning.
40:15"I don't talk to guys. Or people."
46:58Why is she carrying the red dress around? She surely doesn't wear it during practice.
51:08"She's got eyes in the back of her horns."
1:01:37Sectionals feels like a weird term for something.
1:03:58Way too quick to judge on the kids. The mom for sure.
1:10:54I like that she took the eyeliner tips on board even for her Harvard interview.
1:29:30Actually, the friendship between Hayden and the math geek friend is my favourite bit.

Thoughts

This film is really good at what it does but let's not pretend it's deep and meaningful. It's your standard Disney kid's film about a girl who wants to become an ice skater, and she has to overcome the competition and deal with her mother's disappointment as well.

I can't pretend like this is something I'd recommend but equally, there's not a whole lot wrong with it. If you're in the mood for a good movie in the saccharine genre, then this could be the one for you.
