In the irreverent spirit of fun that made 'The LEGO® Movie' a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Thoughts

It's taken us a while to get round to watching this because, with the experience of the first LEGO movie still vivid in our head, we expected it to be bright and fast and exhausting. It was, but nowhere near as bad as the first. It actually felt like it had a somewhat slower pace, a more adult theme perhaps, and generally a better story overall.

Batman himself is brilliant, the self-assured, totally oblivious but generally good-hearted guy who just wants to be loved. By everyone. All the time. Loudly. There were tons of in jokes and references littered through the film, and so many voice cameos we had to go back and check on a few once we were done watching. A really enjoyable film.
