Since she was a little girl, Amy has been taught that monogamy isn't realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo, enjoying an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment. Thoughts
We've had this one on our list for a while, to see what all the fuss was about, and now it's started to be nominated for awards, that made us all the more curious. I've been one of those that wondered where on earth this Schumacher lady came from, given that she's suddenly everywhere, and this seemed to be the thing that kicked off her rise to fame.
I thought it was a solid rom-com, a bit more dramatic than I was expecting, and everyone did a great job with the roles they were given. I loved the cameos, LeBron, Broderick, even Chris Evert showing up! And there were so many references, so many pop-culture winks and nods, I'm sure I only picked up on 20% of them, and understood even fewer!
But, I wasn't totally sold on the main character or her redemption story. I can't really put my finger on why. I much preferred Bill Hader's style of understated comedy in this one. Still, all of it was a mix of funny and moving, so no major complaints from me.
