Thoughts
We haven't really been in the mood for films recently, but after a long day it was time for something a little mindless and a lot funny. That perfectly describes this film, it really doesn't take much brainpower to keep up, it's not particularly long, and it's not particularly clever. But in places, it is extremely funny.
I love Wahlberg and Ferrell together, having seen them first in The Other Guys, which we still quote to this day. They didn't have a lot of time to riff off each other, given the close proximity of pesky little children, but still, it was quite fun to have them sizing each other up once again.
Plus, I really did enjoy the presence of Griff - a random stranger offering insights into this family and their lives with no real basis for being there. Fun stuff!
