Lord Voldemort has returned, but few want to believe it. In fact, the Ministry of Magic is doing everything it can to keep the wizarding world from knowing the truth - including appointing Ministry official Dolores Umbridge as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts. When Professor Umbridge refuses to train her students in practical defensive magic, a select group of students decide to learn on their own. With Harry Potter as their leader, these students meet secretly in a hidden room at Hogwarts to hone their wizarding skills in preparation for battle with the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters.

11:12Extending terrace is awesome. Also Dora's hair.
14:19The eavesdropping ear things are also excellent, but I think would not get past Mad Eye Moody.
19:04So far, of all the sets, I think the ministry is the one I haven't wanted to see because I like my imagination better.
19:36It's alright though.
24:29How does Dumbledore get through his days with jingly things attached to his beard?
28:19"Potter plotter." Wizard headline writers as good as Muggles.
35:07Best paper aeroplane ever.
36:46"...will get you through your examinations, which after all is what school is all about." GAH.
45:48Umbridge is so vile.
55:43The Weasly twins look better with shorter hair.
1:02:20Love that they're running out of wall for her decrees.
1:07:28"Just because you've got the emotional range of a teaspoon."
1:11:36Santa on a broomstick. That explains a lot.
1:14:30The sprawling family tree around the wallpaper is kinda cool.
1:25:53"You may not like it but Dumbledore's got style."
1:27:53"I tried so hard to help and all I've done is make things worse." Tell me about it, Potter.
1:36:28The big pendulum is pretty intimidating for an exam.
1:44:51Her surprise at his clever scheme, brilliant. "Has been known to happen."
1:52:24That's a lot of broken prophecies.
2:04:10"He's back."

Thoughts

In all honesty, it's at this point that our binge-watching of the Harry Potter films makes them start to blur together. It doesn't help that this one didn't stand out anyway, it's very much setting everything up for the future films to come.

Notable highlights include the training of Dumbledore's Army, the growing relationship between Ron and Hermione, and the sheer carnage at the Ministry towards the end. As with the last one, I feel like it's going to be totally confusing for someone who hasn't read the book, and the pace of information coming at you gets faster and faster.

I did think Sirius' death scene made a lot more sense, though, rather than the unfathomable Death Curtain thing from the novels. This way, it's just a plain spell and even more reason to hate Bellatrix.
