1:23Does North Korea have epic waves like that? They should be expert surfers!
6:16Hovercrafts are so awesome but must be hard to film, as hard to control as they are.
12:33“Saved by the bell.” Oh James.
15:06First Bond where the credits also tell a bit of story?
23:13Stern Judi is stern.
33:38Amazingly lovely strong accents in this one, in previous decades they’d have been dubbed.
34:49Mmmm, Cuba’s cars.
50:08Martini, shaken by airplane turbulence, not stirred.
51:30“What a wonderful day to become a knight.”
55:57Diamonds are foreveryone.
1:00:30Always wonder how he knows what the key is for.
1:04:45“Yes, but it’s called the future, so get used to it.”
1:05:10The jetpack!
1:06:29The Aston Martin Vanish is my favourite.
1:15:25Icarus won’t upset the Earth’s very careful balance at all, will it?
1:25:42Laser to the back of the head is properly gross.
1:30:42Hehe, it’s so Eden Project.
1:34:27Just realised the General is Mr Lee from Ministry of Mayhem. Ruined.
1:39:30Interesting they’re using double speed footage, but more arty rather than trying to increase tension.
1:41:06Love this. Car chase is a melting ice palace. What else does Hollywood need?
1:46:20“If the North goes South…”
2:05:21Oof, that whole plane/helicopter thing is just a bit much.

Thoughts

If you'd asked me before we started which was my favourite Bond film, I'd always say this one. Not the best, for sure, but my favourite. North Korea, hovercraft, ice palace, invisible car, Halle Berry, lots of good stunts and plenty of fun. Plus Pierce.

Having now seen them all, I don't know if this does stand up to being my favourite, but perhaps that's something to revisit in a more fleshed out post. Instead, I can only say that I enjoyed it. It's all very silly, and I can understand why people might think it is more glitz than substance but actually, the plot is no more far-fetched than some of the earlier ones, the Bond girls no less attractive and feisty, and the bad guy just as psychotic.

Overall, it's a fab way to end our Bond catch-up experiment, and even with the highs and the lows, I can only say I've enjoyed it all!
